Starting point
A moving camera cannot provide a fixed view of one area. Camera movement and relevant events need to be separated for process analysis.
Camera-based analysis of construction workflows, now in use on three construction sites: stabilise moving footage from the crane, capture events and make activities visible in a shift overview.
One concrete process is enough to get started.
A moving camera cannot provide a fixed view of one area. Camera movement and relevant events need to be separated for process analysis.
The approach combines image stabilisation, event analysis and an interface for reviewing shifts. The project started as a pilot at one crane and now runs on three construction sites.
In use on three construction sites and under further development. Defensible economic conclusions require evaluation in each operating environment.
Original views from the deployment: the camera overview of one of the sites and an analysed single frame. The interface was translated for this page and location details are anonymised.
Camera movement and movement in the observed workflow need to be considered separately. The diagram shows the processing logic.
Moving footage is prepared to support a more consistent view of the observed area.
Relevant events are placed in a context that can be examined across the shift.
Started at one crane, now in use on three construction sites. Economic value is evaluated per site.
